first, let me define what is 'fengtau'. 'feng' is shake. 'tau' is head. it's a 'fancy' name for music genre that originated in the asia region during the mid 90s. it's a type of genre from 'electronic dance music (edm)'. but then, it all changed to a genre of its own, 'fengtau'. it all started from 'ecstasy' pills. when someone take the pill, their heartbeat rate goes up very quickly. it can go as fast as 160-200bpm. and it will make someone go beyond the normal state of mind. they're sensitive to glaring lights but the cravings for extremely loud and rapid-fast bpm music are limitless. they sped up the edm music and add more uplifting high-pitched electronic/digital element that no normal person could handle. they would match the 'fengtau' music beats with a person's heartbeat rate (with ecstasy pill). with all these, one would go into a state of hallucination/delusion/phantasm. they would stand still in one position and shake their head with their hands held up above their head, swiveling their fingers pointing up in the air. and that is how 'fengtau' is borned.
that was more than one and a half decade ago. now, it's very sad to see and hear people refering pure edm music as 'fengtau' music. i feel like it's an insult! reason because, the term 'feng tau' is refered to a low-class, negative and lame genre. this is only refered by people that listens to commercial genre (eg. hiphop/rnb). just like how some of the typical american called european edm music as 'euro-trash'.
